Somali Women for Action (SOW4A) believes that education is a fundamental right and a key pathway to gender equality and empowerment. The organization works to ensure that every girl—regardless of her background, disability, or circumstance—has access to quality and inclusive education.
SOW4A supports community-based initiatives that promote girls’ enrollment, retention, and successful transition across all levels of education. Through mentorship, awareness programs, and collaboration with schools and parents, the organization addresses barriers such as early marriage, poverty, and social norms that limit girls’ learning opportunities. By providing literacy training, school materials, and safe learning environments, SOW4A helps create a generation of educated and confident young women ready to lead change in their communities.
Key Focus Areas:
Promoting access to education for girls from marginalized communities
Reducing school dropout through community awareness and parental engagement
Providing scholarships and school supplies to vulnerable girls
Supporting inclusive learning for girls with disabilities
Encouraging girls’ participation in leadership and civic education
